The Swanton Railroad Station restoration project involved a combination of uncovering, recreating, and renovating the station’s original architectural beauty. Threatened with demolition, the Town of Swanton and the Swanton Historical Society banded together to relocate the building. Our involvement began by assessing the existing conditions of the station and determining the feasibility of renovations based on comprehensive cost estimates. Very little of the original details of the 1875 building remained when the project began, as seen in the existing conditions photo. The completed project complied with the Secretary of the Interior’s Standards for Rehabilitation and VTrans Enhancement Program requirements.
